I had a hyperglycemia melt down am i a diabetic?

the ER doc measure my sugar blood level as 171 and took my numbness and in ability to move or control my limbs, and my racing heart as a panic attack…..

what do you think?

i think your best bet is to contact a doctor for some further testing.

yes, 171 is too high for someone without diabetes. HOWEVER…stress will always cause my blood sugar to shoot up and you were in the ER. For a panic attack. also, you don’t mention how long it had been since you had last eaten/drank something. did they have you hooked up to any sort of an IV? IV solutions can sometime contain dextrose.

Speak to your primary doc. Let him/her know that your blood sugar tested high in the ER. they can schedule you for either a fasting glucose or a glucose tolerance test.

are you haveing any of the symptoms of diabetes?
increased thirst
increased urination
unexplained weight loss

Really good article on hypoglycemia that I could print out?

I’m trying to help my neighbor at least send his dog’s puppies to their new homes with good information… could anyone find me a really good article (online) about hypoglycemia that I could print out for him to give to the new owners?
Isn’t there danger of botox poisoning if using raw honey?

What happens if someone with bad diabetes refuses to amputate a dead foot?

If someone that has sugar diabetes does not amputate a bad foot… Can it kill them?
They are saying his heart rate is only 20% and is too weak to preform an amputation.

I am afraid they are all correct. There may be the possibility of doing the amputation under an epidural injection (like for having a baby). This is a lot less stress on the heart than a general anesthetic but isn’t free of risks either. It is also very stressful for the patient as they can hear the saws etc.

What is the difference between hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia?

The normal blood sugar level of our body is 70 to 150 mg. Above 150 mg is indicative of hyperglycemia or high blood sugar. Chronic low levels falling below 70 mg is indicative of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.Hypoglycemia is a potentially fatal condition. Symptoms of this condition are lethargy, impaired mental functioning, irritability and loss of consciousness. Persistent hyperglycemia results in diabetes mellitus, which is the most common disease related to blood sugar regulation failure. Diabetes can cause eye, kidney and nerve damage.
Did i gave you the good information? Hope to hear from you.
I want you to listen this video that i am going to share to you.

HYPOGLYCEMIA????????????????????????????

lately my hands and my feet have been really cold. My parents noticed that and he said that could be something to do with hypoglycemia. I just read about it and it doesn’t mention those symptoms and it talks about people 25 or older(I’m 16 by the way). My parents say i might have this because I don’t eat at the right time( like I eat at 6-7, and then at 11 again) and also because I barely drink milk. Is that true?????

Probably not. You might be getting cold hands and feet because you have poor circulation to your extremities. Hypoglycemia is becuase of low blood sugar concetration and you can get it if you don’t eat for a long time. but if you are not diabetic this shouldnt be a problem since your body will release gluocse into the blood when you are low in blood sugar. so eating at 6-7 would not be the problem even if you eat lunch at like 11am becuase you are not a diabetic i assume and you are kind of young to have dibetes although that is changing. As for milk, i highly doubt it. Milk has a form of sugar called lactose but that is not the main source of sugar your body intakes, So if you are not feeling weak and nausea , then you probably are not hypoglycemic.

does hyperglycemia include polyphagia as one of the symptoms or lack of appetite?

I am confused with hyperglycemia vs. hypoglycemia symptoms and some sources say one thing, some say something else, but basically I need to know if either of conditions includes lack of appetite or both have polyphagia?

Both hyperglycaemia [hyperglycemia] and hypoglycaemia [hypoglycemia] have polyphagia as a symptom.

In the case of hyperglycaemia, the glucose that’s present in the bloodstream can’t get into the body’s cells for the creation of energy. (In type 1 diabetes this is because there’s either no insulin being produced, or very limited quantities. In type 2 diabetes, the body’s cells are resistant to the effects of the insulin that is still being produced.) Because of this, the body believes it is starving, causing the polyphagia.

In the case of hypoglycaemia, the blood glucose (sugar) level has fallen very low. Instinctively, the body wants you to eat, and thereby increase the blood sugar level. Again, polyphagia is the result … at least, until blood sugar levels are back to ‘normal’.
