Can you help me explain how the hormones glucagon and insulin work together to control blood glucose levels?

The hormone glucagon is released when glucose levels fall below normal. Explain how the hormones glucagon and insulin work together to control blood glucose levels.

(needs answer asap)

Glucose is the type of sugar in your blood that is the main source of energy for the body. If the glucose is too low the body, especially the brain cannot function and the person becomes sluggish, confused and faints. If the glucose is too high the person will have long term problems of diabetes like high risk of heart attacks, poor wound healing, kidney disease, etc. Insulin is a hormone released into the blood which lowers blood sugar by stimulating the muscle cells and fat cells to take in glucose from the blood to use as energy. Glucagon is a hormone which raises blood sugar by stimulating the liver to release stores of glucose into the blood. They work together to keep blood glucose from getting too high or too low.

What is the latest stage of pregnancy you can have your blood glucose test?

Im 29 weeks pregnant and was supposed to have my routine 28 week blood glucose test, but i was throwing up and couldn’t keep down the sugary drink that’s needed for the test. I’ve had severe nausea and vomiting my entire pregnancy. What if this keeps happening and i don’t get the test? How long can i leave it without the results being affected. Is there any other way of testing for it without my needing to drink that disgusting sugar water?

I have heard of people not being able to keep the drink down. but if it keep happening they will alter the test to you eating something that has the same sugar content as the drink (i.e. x amount of jelly beans) either way if they don’t already detect sugar in your urine and if your baby is measuring right on track then they may not be too worried about it for a couple more weeks.

Where can I find recipes for my daughters’ diabetic restrictions?

My 11 year old daughter is a Type-1 diabetic. She was diagnosed at age 9 and has gone through extreme medical ups and downs in the past two years. Today her doctor placed her on a restricted diet:
NO potatoes, pasta, sweets, or chips.
VERY LITTLE breads, carbs, starches.
LOTS OF veggies,
as much meat as she wants. Except fatty meats like bacon. All the foods she loves have been eliminated. Where can I find tasty, kid-friendly substitutions and recipes that will ease the transition for her?

www.dlife.com has a ton of great recipes…the best I’ve had, and they’re all lower in carbs. Click on the "Recipes" icon at the top, then you can type "kid" in the search field for kid-friendly recipes, but you’ll find all kinds of foods in there. Focus on keeping her carbs at less than 30g per meal, it will keep her BG’s much more stable.

Will hypoglycemia symptoms go away if a beta blocker is stopped or is hypoglycemia permanant?

I have been on a beta blocker for 4 months due to a heart problem but lately I have been having blurred vision dizziness Drowsiness trouble Concentrating and feeling like I am going to pass out my husband suggested I tried drink juice ( his dad was a diabetic so he has seen him like this ) and it seemed to help but the symptoms later come back , if my dr takes me off the beta blocker because of this will the hypoglycemia go away or will it always be there now?

Beta blockers are temporary repair works with major side effects and cannot be substituted for a cure.
They are nothing less than a stop gap arrangement and their lasting side effects are far outweighing their benefits. Hypoglycemia is a low sugar situation. Consuming a bit of sugar would temporarily help it just as taking lime water with sugar and salt help with both hypoglycemia and low blood pressure. They are not solutions, but temporary reliefs,. The cause for the hypoglycemia as well as diabetis as well as high and low blood pressure should be traced not to the pancreas as the modern science claims to be but it should be directed towards the adrinals where the common salt and sugar are major functionaries for its correct and accurate functioning which has been hampeted by or due to other iatrogenic/vaccinosis/ or genetic mutation as their reasons. These have to be corrected first, the salt balance, the ill effects of vaccination and the genetic mutations. Genetic mutations are hard to reverse but still can be made milder, whereas the iatrogenic and vaccination causes and their ill effects are more or less reversible. If that is achieved, further progress can be made in restoring the health to healthy state or homeostasis. A lot of benefit can be achieved towards this end through homeopathic medicines. Thuja 30 three doses a day for a few days followed by Natrum Mur 30 three doses a day for a few days will remove many of the ill effects. The heart problems like hypertrophy or cardiomyopathies which you may be having are only outcomes or results of the adrinal dysfunction and does not therefore contribute to the cause for your ailments, whereas I find that you are treating the heart problem which is a result, or outcome of the root problems you have in adrinals. This approach is management and not cure. The cause has to be treated and not the results. The results are heart problems. Treating heart therefore is a surface level approach. Once the adrinal dysfunctions are reversed, the damages caused due to such dysfunctions should be treated as if peeling an onion, layer by layer and the final homeostasis or healthy state of affairs achieved. Aluminium Silicata in higher potencies are helpful in curing hypoglycemia through homeopathy. Medicines should be taken in strict consultation with a doctor.

Who offers blood glucose meters as part of their diabetic testing supplies?

I’m looking for a blood glucose meter that doesn’t require a test strip. Can you recommend a manufacturer or model that doesn’t need to have a test trip?

Well there are many different types of blood glucose meters made by companies such as Accu-Chek, lifescan, freestyle, ascensia, contour, one touch. The one you may be thinking of is the Accu-Chek Compact Plus. People sometimes think that the Accu-Chek Compact Plus does not take test strips but all blood glucose meters use test strips. Check out Diabetic-Supplies-Online.com, they have many instructional videos and have virtually every diabetic supply you could ever want.
