Do you take cinnamon to lower blood glucose levels?

Cinnamon is supposed to help regulate blood glucose levels. Does anyone have success with it?

I take cinnamon but I truly don’t know if it really helps because I do so much more to control my glucose levels. My fasting is 96 and my hba1c is 5.5. It’s too hard to determine what is working and what is not.
I take 2000 mg of metformin a day and 3 mg. of Amaryl.
Plus I exercise 1 1/2 hours a day . Nordic Walking Google it.
And also I follow a low glycemic index diet ;http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm

So who knows. But I will tell you that it sure can’t hurt to try.
Also try the lemon or lime juice and also use vinegar on your salads.
Use ¼ to ½ teaspoon of cinnamon per day. Add it to your coffee, oatmeal, smoothie, or wherever you find it palatable.
If you already suffer from diabetes, be sure to stay on a regular schedule with your cinnamon usage so that your blood sugar levels don’t yo-yo.Use the same amount at the same time every day so that you can get a sense of how cinnamon affects your own personal blood sugar readings.
Use the powdered spice or a cinnamon stick. Cinnamon pills are also available, and can be found easily via an online search. MHCP is water soluble and is not found in cinnamon oil.

Lime and lemon juice delay the digestion of starches as does vinegar. I’ve found that 2-3 tablespoons of lime or lemon juice reduces my post prandial BG response by 10-20 points. Rick Mendosa’s site has a lot of material on acids in the diet. Take a look at http://www.mendosa.com/acidic_foods.htm .

Good luck

How can i raise my blood sugar levels(hyperglycemia )?

High blood sugar is known as hyperglycemia

i went to the drs today cos i have felt funny all week.
so he said i have low blood sugar what will raise my blood sugar level.

coffee
salt
chocolate

what will raise it.
what would happen if i raised it to much, would this give me diabites =O

Avoid junk food, white flour, most sugar, fruit juice, and pop with sugar in it.

Switch to a healthier diet.

Eat complex carbs: things like whole grain breads instead of white bread. Whole grain pasta instead of white pasta, brown rice instead of white rice.

Eat a little more protien, but make sure its lean meat, beans, low fat cheese, or fish. No fried food.

Have smaller meals and add in a couple of healthy snacks per day.

Get tested for diabetes every year. I started out with hypoglycemia, and ended up with diabetes and so did my mother. I recommend you get tested. If you are already diabetic, you can feel like you have low blood sugar even when its too high.

Ask for an HbA1c test and a Glucose Tolerance Test.

Get them done every year to keep an eye on this problem. That way, if it does become diabetes you’ll know and can get started on proper treatment before it damages your nerves, eyesight, heart, kidneys and so on.

Good luck!

I feel nauseous after eating could I have hypoglycemia?

I always feel sick after I eat, more at night. This is usually along with chest pain and head aches. My feet do also feel numb sometimes. I do feel tired alot too. Someone suggested I could have Hypoglycemia, which makes sense because my mom has it. But all the web sites I have gone to have nothing about nasesa… Which is my main symptom. Anyway so has anyone experenced that symptom which Hypoglycemia? Do you think I could have it? Oh and sometimes it feels like I have a rapid heartbeat.

I have hypoglycemia and it doesn’t make sense that you would be feeling nasesa because of that. If anything you would be feeling better because your blood sugar would go higher. I don’t know about the chest pains and head aches but it could be stress. I know I was under alot of stress a while ago and I honestly couldn’t eat anything for a few months b/c of how stressed i was. I would go to the doctor and get something to calm your tummy.

why do you need a prescription for a blood glucose meter?

i keep seeing free meter just print off the coupon and bring in your prescription. why do you need a prescription for a meter???? does this make any sense?

Some insurance plans will pay for a glucose meter for diabetics, but they won’t pay for a meter for non-diabetics. So, what happens is that the meter company turns in the prescription to your insurance company for reimbursement.

My insurance company will pay for a new meter every year, if I want one.

How do I know if I have hypoglycemia or diabetes?

Is it normal to feel dizzy/lightheaded if you don’t eat anything for 8 hours? Can a person have hypoglycemia and diabetes?

Just curious. I once tested my blood sugar levels with those testers for people with diabetes, and it was 5.9, and I had just drank hot chocolate and eaten some food. Is that normal for a teen girl?

Thanks!
My dad has diabetes. How likely is it that I will get it at some point in my life?

The only sure way to know is see a doctor.

What is the accurate level of diabetes during pregnancy?

Hi i am 28 weeks pregnant and i am suffering from gestational diabetes and from last week i have been monitoring my blood sugar levels by following a special diet and regular exercise. And after all this my sugar level has come under control but sometimes it comes in between 5m/mol and sometimes its just under a required level that means 6.7m/mol (after meal). So i was just wondering as long it comes under 7m/mol is good or as lower is better?

Lower is better, but this is not something you should stress too much about as long as it’s under 7. Stress can actually raise blood glucose. Keep up the healthy diet, exercise daily, and don’t fret.

You should be aware that many women who have had gestational diabetes will develop type two diabetes later in life. You should also be aware that you can prevent it. The most important thing you can do right now is learn all you can about a healthy, high nutrient, low carb Calorie diet. Basically what that means is more raw natural fruits and vegetables and fewer man made products which are often stripped of important nutrients. The nutrients that keep your cells and organs healthy. When cells become unhealthy, they become insulin resistant. That’s when your pancreas produces too much insulin as the blood sugar levels go up. That can cause several things to happen and that is why such a high percentage of the population is unhealthy. For more, look up metabolic syndrome to see exactly what is going on in your body. Watch the video linked below, it’s revealing:
