Blood Glucose Meter reading H1, Unsure why?

I am a new diabetic (1 year) and lately, my glucose meter has strangely been reading H1 all of a sudden. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Have you changed your diet recently? Do you know which foods and drinks will make your blood sugar spike, and have you been eating more of those high G.I foods lately? Try to stick to eating low G.I foods and see what the monitor says then.
Good luck.

"HI" means that your blood glucose is above the range your meter can test- usually 500-600mg/dl. Wash your hands, test again, and if it’s still saying "HI" go to the ER.

H1–Test result is above 600 mg/dL (33.3 mmol/L). Retest. If the result is stiil high, contact your physician or diabetes educator about a possible hyperglycemic condition (high blood sugar).

This is HI=High. The reading at which this occurs varies from meter to meter. It usually signifies at least 25mmoles.

Options are that this is your blood sugar or either the meter or the sticks are a problem. Get your diabetic liaison nurse or your practice to check your sugar more formally and take it from there.
