Is there a new blood glucose meter that doesn’t require a blood sample?
I heard of a commercial on CNN that says there is a new Blood Glucose meter that you run over your skin & it tells you your sugar level. It doesn’t require a blood sample like all the other meters.
No. Every new method (that have not even come out yet) requires a blood sample. The one you speak of is still be tested, and there have been several problems with it….

There have been a few in development, the only name I can recall is glucowatch.

Unfortunately from what I understand even if you use one of the other methods of glucose testing, you still have to test yourself (blood) to make sure its accurate.

they do have a few that you can wear like a wrist watch, their accuracy isnt at the greatest level, so if you have a low youd still have to do the regular check with a blood sample, in march the FDA approved a glucowatch that pulls body fluid from the skin using small electric currents, it is used for 13 hours at a time taking six samples an hour to track trends in glucose levels say for someone who has brittle diabetes or other troubles controlling blood sugars. it will hopefully eventually be mass marketed as a different way to test your glucose levels once they do more studies and tests on it.

Not yet.
The fact is, the sugar in your blood "leaks" out through your skin. It is THEORETICALLY possible to take a skin measurement to determine blood sugar.
But as yet this propositions still has problems, especially in the questions of accuracy and timing. HOW LONG does it take the blood sugar to rach the skin, and is that different for different people? Is race a question? Does it wash off? How is the overall accuracy?
So far, far too many questions, not enough answers.
Maybe, someday. But not now.
