It can be hard to lose weight for some diabetics. Especially if you have to take insulin. Try walking every day for 30 to 45 minutes. It’s easy and you can do it almost anywhere, and all you need are some comfy sneakers. Watch out for the carbs.

The most basic thing is to go very low carb for weight loss. Try either Atkins or South Beach Living, Phase 2 of either one, this is what a lot of the top Endos are now recommending.

Best advice on which of the foods listed with them is good for you is your meter!!! prepare the food at snack time, check glucose, eat the serving of food and check glucose again 90 minutes to 2 hours later. If it has spiked your glucose say more than 50 points, decide if you want just a smaller serving or have it less frequently or delete it entirely from your food plan.

I have half cup of real regular ice cream as my bedtime snack. High protein, has some carbs and some fats!! I have also had a handful of nuts, cheese, cream cheese on celery and other things like that.

Also I take my meds with breakfast or immediately after and again with dinner.

You will find yourself watching the clock more closely and regimenting your day by the clock. Getting up at the same time every morning, eating at the same hours, medicating by the clock. and above all walking for the 45 minutes to an hour every day!!! No Sundays or Holidays off!!!

This should help you to figure out how your lifestyle will go for the next foreseeable future!! This is a total lifestyle change and if you do it cheerfully, it will serve very well to keep you very healthy!!

    Be well and prosper!!

Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates. Eat balanced meals with whole grains at regular times. Losing weight helps control diabetes, as you lose weight you may need less medication.
Balance the amount of meds taken with the food eaten. Keep a granola bar near.
