Diabetic Diet & Blood Gluecose

Providing You with the Best Diabetic Info Around

has anyone tried a diabetic diet while pregnant for weight control?

I am 7 weeks gest, and overweight. any other suggestions?

I recommend you join Weight Watchers. They have a diet for pregnant women and it’s sensible and most likely supported by your physician. Inquire and see what you learn.

do you have gestational diabetes? i had that with my 2nd child but did not find out until i was 7 1/2 mo’s pregnant. i was put on a 1200 calorie a day diet – but he was still 9 lbs 15 oz when born. ALWAYS ASK YOU DOCTOR BEFORE DOING ANYTHING – THEY KNOW MORE ABOUT IT AND CAN GET YOU TO A DIETICIAN.

i followed a diabetic diet when i was pregnant because I had gestational diabetes. I ended up not gaining any weight and losing fat that I had when I got pregnant. I delivered at the same weight I was when I got pregnant.

It is not a good time to be dieting when you’re pregnant. When you lose weight, it means that your baby is not getting the nutrients it needs. You have to steadily gain weight while pregnant, for your growing baby. It doesn’t make sense to be worrying about being overweight now. If you keep your weight gain slow and steady, then you’ll only have to worry about the weight you already have before you had your baby and nothing more.

Please rethink this dieting notion. Everything you do from now on will affect your baby. The food you eat, the liquids you drink, the meds you take…these will all affect your baby. You have to put your self 2nd from now one. Welcome to mommiehood.
