Do they still make blood glucose test strips that don’t require a meter?

I don’t need it to be precise, I just want a general idea of whether or not my blood glucose level is getting too high. My little brother used to have this little jug of strips that he would use and just compare the color to the color on the jug. That’s what I’m after. Do they still make these?

I’m presuming that colorimetric blood glucose test strips (ones that you compare visually against a color chart) are still available as I’ve just logged onto the following two websites and seen examples of them. (Sorry, but the second url takes you to a site in the UK, but I would assume that they have them in the USA too.)

Oops! I’ve just seen the spelling of colorimetric test strips on the first site too, which indicates that that site is in Australia.

Apparently, GlucoFlex-R test strips are sold by Ambe Medical Group though I’m afraid I have absolutely no idea how much they cost.

Try your local pharmacy to see if they have them in stock, or could order you some.

I do hope you’re able to find what you want.

Any good recipes for a low GI diet?

Hi. I am a sufferer of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and I have read in lot’s of places to try a low GI diet as the symptoms are very alike to diabetics. I was just wondering if anyone had any nice recipes as I cannot seem to lose weight, obviously due to the PCOS and not junk food hehe. I just think it’s about time I got the weight issue under control (as all you PCOS sufferers know is a big (excuse the pun, not intended) issue as a side effect/symptom). Or maybe you can let me know if you tried the low GI diet and it worked for you. I know in America your treated alot better for it but over here in the UK it’s a case of, you have PCOS, these are the symptoms you can go on the pill if you like to see if it helps with your symptoms then left to it. So maybe if I take things in my own hands I can maybe get some of the nasty symptoms under control. Thanks alot guys and sorry if I babbled..

I tried many different way to lose my weight, but nothing worked untill I got this amazing way. It works fast and I lost my weight easy after I got right way. I lost 9 pounds in 30 days and it was so easy. If you are really serious and really want to lose weight you should have a look. You can get info from link below.

question i have a diabetic recipe book for diabetes uk read on?

i have read a lot of answers concerning food!now most of you say no pasta no potato no spaghetti ect but in my recipe book it says that diabetics should eat these every day (check if you like on diabetes uk link at bottom) so why does everyone on this site say no to all of the above since i have encluded these things back into my diet i have been a lot better, my blood sugar levels have evened out and i have a lot more energy so please people don’t tell other diabetics not to eat them they could end up hurting themselves as i said check the recipes on the site it must be correct seeing they are the ones who know

http://www.diabetes.org.uk/

I, for one, never said that.
My advice has always been to eat a balanced diet rich in nutrients, low in fat.

Does Hypoglycemia stop you from joining the military?

I have Hypoglycemia and im 16 and from the UK. i want to join the british army, but i am afraid my medical condition might stop me. Any help would be much appreciated.

You cannot, you would be a risk since if your blood sugar drops you cannot stop to eat and you would be hurting yourself if not killing yourself.
